Edward, the chief teddy,  sent an invitation to RK and RD and their teddies to join him on a teddy bear’s picnic. The coach took us to Hill End, Farmoor and we started the day finding out about all of the things teddies need in order to survive. We learned about SWAF – shelter, water, air and food. Then we played some teddy bear games and found out how important it is to have trees and woodland in our environment. With our tummies rumbling, we set off to collect our packed lunches and teddies from the hut…BUT they weren’t there!! Edward helped us to track the teddies and lunches, using his sense of smell and lots of other clues. At last, we found the teddies and lunches waiting for us in a lovely wooded area. As we tucked into our delicious sandwiches and crisps, we told our teddies that it wasn’t very sensible to run off without telling us. They were very sorry!

After that, we had some difficult tasks to complete, including making a shelter for different woodland animals. We had to find different, natural materials to make the shelter. We finished off the day when Rosie, our guide, told us a story about looking after our environment and how we can all help to keep our world safe.

We had a wonderful time at Hill End… and so did our teddies!
