Netball is a hugely popular sport at The Manor, and therefore it should be no surprise that the first sporting event of the new academic year was the Pre-Season Netball, held on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd September. How lucky we were to have the sun shining the whole time!
Delivered by a team of coaches from the highly reputable Trinity Netball Club, the 33 girls from Y4 to Y6 were in great spirits over the 2 days, practising essential ball skills and techniques, joining in shooting clinics and rehearsing attacking and defending tactics. At the end of each day, the girls had the chance to transfer the skills they had learned into game play.
They also had an opportunity to ask two of Trinity’s U16 players lots of questions, which inspired the girls and provided them with valuable information about what they need to do to play county and regional netball in the future!
Congratulations go to the following players who were awarded medals and prizes:
Most Outstanding Player
Y4 Nooree Patel
Y5 Ellen Jackson
Y6 Eliza Brown
Most Improved Player
Y4 Jemima Dashwood
Y5 Kirsty McCulloch
Y6 Lauren Shepheard
Tilly Dashwood received special recognition for her great effort to learn a completely new game.
With many fixtures ahead this term, with some tough opposition anticipated, the girls will no doubt have learned some valuable netball skills to prepare them well.
A superb 2 days, and here’s to another great season of netball!
