British Biathlon Championships 2017

27th November 2017

On Saturday 25 November three Manor pupils; Evey P, Ceci B and Frankie H competed in the British Biathlon Championships in Solihull.

A biathlon consists of an 800m run and a 50m swim. It was a very cold day so the girls had to keep themselves wrapped up during their warm ups before stepping out on to the track. Frankie and Ceci competed first in the U10 competition and both put in excellent performances, improving their entry times. Ceci was in fact the 9th fastest runner in her age group. Evey was up next and again she had a fantastic run, her race set off at a blistering pace, but Evey was able to remain composed and finished in 8th place before heading off to the pool. This gave me a chance to warm up whilst the girls jumped in for their warm up! Ceci and Frankie were again up first and as with their running they showed great speed through the water and posted great times, earning lots of points. Evey then took the plunge for her 50m swim. Another superb performance saw Evey finish 10th overall in the U11 competition! A magnificent achievement! Frankie scored enough points to secure a great 28th position and Ceci 39th in the U10 competition.
Well done girls you were brilliant!
