Drama

First and above all drama should be fun! It is a marvellous vehicle for developing self-confidence, communication skills, social awareness, imagination, self discipline and co-operation. Starting with short delightful Nativity plays in Nursery and Reception, all pupils participate in regular class assemblies and annual ‘Year’ plays performed to their parents and friends, culminating in the Year 6 production during their last term at The Manor. The buzz and excitement generated by each production are almost tangible.

The timetable has been carefully designed so that the Prep Department has regular drama lessons and runs two after-school drama clubs, which are heavily in demand.

Professional dancers and actors, visiting poets, and musicians extend the teachers’ expertise and the children’s learning. A variety of other opportunities arise in the drama programme from the challenging assessment of the English Speaking Board examinations to exciting drama workshops, even at the Globe Theatre.
