This is seen by the school as an essential tool which is an integral part of learning in subjects across the curriculum. The Independent Schools Inspectorate made the following observations after a full inspection of ICT at The Manor in March 2005:
“The resources and accommodation for ICT are outstanding and the ease of access around the school, for both staff and pupils, enables ICT to be well used.”
“Pupils, including those with learning difficulties, achieve high standards in ICT and its use in other subjects is outstanding.”
“Attainment in ICT is very good at all ages. The use of ICT is incorporated into the work in the Nursery so that by Year 2 pupils have very good keyboard skills, can log on and off and use a variety of programmes. By Year 6, standards are very high... regular access to the network, in ICT lessons and in other subjects, enables pupils to practise their skills and consolidate progress at each stage.”
Currently, in Years 5 and 6, ICT is embedded in the curriculum and pupils experience use of ICT in a variety of situations, making good use of additional resources such as interactive whiteboards, digital cameras, data logging equipment and graphics tablets.
