Letter from the Chair of Governors

13th September 2016

Chair of Governors with Manor Prep Students
It is with sadness that I announce that Piers Heyworth has decided to retire at the end of this academic year, July 2017.
Piers has been a wonderful Head of The Manor since 2006. As a Board, we are very grateful to him for all he has done in creating the vibrant, nurturing and academically successful culture that makes The Manor such a special place.
In Piers’ words, “I have hugely enjoyed my ten years here – The Manor’s children, staff, parents and Governors make up a wonderfully warm-hearted and engaging community. After 41 years as a teacher including 25 years as a Head, I have decided to retire at the end of this academic year. I shall miss The Manor enormously but I look forward to trying to lower my golf handicap, doing some private tuition and proving to Sarah, Florence and Robin that my culinary skills extend beyond Pork Chop Surprise! I am certain that The Manor will go from strength to strength to strength.”
We will shortly begin the search for a successor and will be seeking candidates who can build on Piers’ impressive legacy.  That successor will have the privilege of working with the strong team that Piers has developed.
Finally, on a personal note, having watched my two girls flourish at The Manor under Piers’ leadership and having worked with him closely on the Board for the last two years, I want to add my thanks, to what I am sure will be a chorus of thank-yous from parents, children, staff and Governors past and present, for all he has done as the leader of our school – and to wish him all the best as he moves on to the next stage of his life.
Yours sincerely,
Shaun Forrestal
