The Library enjoys a central location in the School and lies at the heart of the learning process by which pupils are provided with the tools to become learners for life.
We aim to provide a comfortable and stimulating setting in which each child feels welcome and at ease. Every pupil is timetabled to come to the Library at least once a week – Nursery and Reception classes enjoy shared stories with the Librarian, and from Year One onwards, fiction and non-fiction books may be borrowed on a weekly basis.
The Library is open at lunchtime and between 8.00-8.30 a.m. for girls in Year 4 to 6. Girls in Years 5 and 6 follow a structured Study Skills Programme, developing research and information skills. There is a very popular Librarian Training Scheme for girls in Year 6.
The Librarian runs a range of activities to foster a love of literature and research. These include Book Weeks with visiting authors and colourful Book Characters Costume Parades, quizzes and competitions, Readathons – which raise vast amounts for charity – plus two flourishing Book Clubs which run after school.
