We balance a commitment to good physical health and fitness for all through a diverse and challenging sports programme with a highly competitive pursuit of excellence for talented players.
We have an enviable record of success in matches and tournaments, due to the enthusiastic dedication of the staff, children and parents, together with our indoor and outdoor facilities and the fully developed Physical Education Programme.
Activemark Gold
In November 2004, The Manor Prep was awarded Activemark Gold, a prestigious National Award by Sport England for “outstanding commitment to physical activity as part of the school’s provision.”
Sports
Our main sports are netball and tennis. Swimming, rounders, athletics, gymnastics and dance are also taught. Girls in Year 6 are taught a term of hockey and lacrosse, while football is taught from Pre-Prep to Year 3. There is a thriving football club for the girls in the Prep Department.
From the ag of 5 all children swim regularly at Radley College as part of the PE timetable. Annual house galas are held for each year group in the Spring Term; we have a few matches with other schools and run an invitation gala at Radley for five other schools in the Summer Term.
Tennis with Dave Crowley
We have a resident tennis coach, Dave Crowley, who was the Oxfordshire Performance Coach of the Year in 2004, retaining the title in 2005! Dave gives private lessons before school, at lunchtimes and after school. These have proved very popular and there are now a few sessions for parents!
