The shop is run by volunteer Manor mothers. Located in the top of the Manor House the shop provides good quality second hand school uniform. All items are sold at 50% or less of the price of the new school uniform. Sellers receive 75% of the sale price, the remaining 25% of the sale price goes to Friends of the Manor. We tot up the proceeds of our sales in November and cheques go out before Christmas to all those many lucky people who have made sales.
Sale Dates and Times:
Sales are the first Wednesday of each month normally between 8:15 and 9:15am. Dates of these sales plus additional sales are detailed in the fortnightly Manor Matters and on school posters. There is also a special sale, for those last minute items, on the Monday before the first day of the new academic year in September, between 11:30 am and 1pm.
Other Opening Times:
Existing parents, who urgently need replacement clothing before a sale date can contact their year group SHUS representative. Details can be found on the notice board outside the shop and in the car park. New parents who are unable to attend one of our sale dates may contact Paula Cope on 01235 834703 who can open the shop. However, please remember that Paula works full time and does this only on a voluntary basis so this should only be used in an emergency. Usually Thursdays and Fridays are the most suitable times for this, but please call in advance so that times can be aranged.
Payment:
Payment can be made in cash or by cheques. Cheques should be made payable to ‘F.O.T.M S.H.U.S.’. Please note that parents will not be able to take any items from the shop without paying first.
Second Hand Clothes:
We are happy to receive your quality second hand goods, including historical costumes. Please make sure they are clean and in good condition. Each item should be clearly labelled. Any unlabelled items will be sold and the takings donated to the F.O.T.M. Labels are available from either the shop or from Mrs Rivers in the school office. Items are priced by the SHUS representatives.
The S.H.U.S reserve the right to refuse an item of clothing if it is not of suitable condition. These items will then either be donated to school for emergencies or given to charity. Each item is priced individually based on its condition, demand etc. Any item which becomes discontinued stock at Shepherd and Woodward will be either removed from sale in the S.H.U.S or reduced in price according to school policy.
During the current transitional period Fleeces and PE trousers may still be worn instead of the Sweat top, Zipped Tracksuit top and Tracksuit bottoms.
