The Manor Preparatory School in Abingdon has just received its Inspection Reports from the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI). We are delighted to announce that the news could not have been better – every area of school life received the highest possible rating of ‘excellent’ confirming the exceptional academic and personal development of every pupil as the school begins the transition to full co-education.

Speaking to the staff as the tremendous news arrived, Headmaster, Piers Heyworth said “I am thrilled to be able to share with you the outstanding news of our Inspection.  You should be immensely proud of all that you do.  Clearly your inspirational teaching, guidance, leadership and care shone through.  We are very lucky to have such a wonderful caring community of Governors, staff and parents enabling each and every child here to flourish”.

The ISI reports state “The environment created at the school embodies the ethos of kindness, inclusivity and respect”.  It found that in all areas of school life The Manor achieves its aim “to enthuse pupils with a love of learning and the desire to make the most of their abilities and opportunities”.

The Educational Quality Inspection report was particularly complimentary about pupils’ attitudes:  “Pupils approach every day with an overwhelming passion to learn and develop”.  “Their support for one another comes instinctively”.  Teachers were also praised:  “Pupils often exceed expectations as teachers have high aspirations that challenge pupils to try their best”.  “Staff demonstrate consistently high standards of communication and this is a key factor in the development of pupils’ skills”.

The quality of the pupils’ personal development, a further area of the report finds Manor pupils “… are caring of one-another’s feelings and beliefs, and appreciative of their environment; they display excellent empathy and concern for one another” and “… spoke passionately about how they had grown in confidence and how the work of the school enables them to succeed”.

Chair of Governors, Shaun Forrestal said, on receipt of the report “The Governors are delighted that The Manor has once again received the highest possible ISI inspection rating.  This continued excellence is made possible by the contribution that every single member of staff makes to create the “challenging and cherishing” environment in which every Manor pupil is inspired to develop to their highest academic and personal potential”
