U11 Netball Nationals 2017 – Here we come again!

6th March 2017

On Thursday 2 March, our U11 IAPS Netball Team took part in one of the Regional Rounds held at Queen Anne’s, Caversham for the very first time. 38 teams took part and the format for the first round consisted of 4 pools with 9 or 10 teams in each. We were in a pool of 10, with 9 matches to play. Our aim was to qualify for a place at Nationals. The girls played brilliantly – the very best I’ve seen them play and finished third in their pool, narrowly losing two matches by only 1 goal and winning the other seven matches. Finishing third in our pool bought us a place in the Final Rounds but with many hoops to jump through! Only 6 of the 38 teams qualified for Nationals. The winners of their pool were awarded an automatic place, with 8 teams playing off for only two remaining places – The Manor being one of them. Having won the first of our knock-out rounds, the four remaining teams had to play each other round robin style. With three wins and one loss, this was enough to secure ourselves a place at Nationals – what an achievement!
13 games were played throughout the day and these were the results of our matches. We only conceded 3 goals all day, scored 57 and had a goal difference of 36.
