Whether children join us in Year 1 or Year 2, or are moving up through the school from The Manor's Early Years Foundation Stage, they are sure of a wonderfully welcoming reception by Mrs Emma Gower, Head of Years 1 & 2. The creative curriculum, capturing the lively imagination of this age group, stimulates the children's interests and learning.
At The Manor we continue to build on the children’s prior knowledge gained from the two years of Key Stage 1, with the children continuing with the specialist lessons they started in Reception.
Reading and spelling homework are set on a regular basis. Physical activities are highly valued in the curriculum and the boys and girls have the opportunity to develop their skills.
Educational visits, visitors, year group plays and concerts, assemblies, show and tell, circle time – time set aside each week when children and their teachers take part in fun games and activities designed to increase self-awareness, awareness of others, self-esteem, co-operation, trust and listening skills.
The school day starts at 8.30am and finishes at 3.30pm.
At The Manor we follow the National Curriculum but teach through a creative curriculum approach. Continual assessment is made throughout the year and careful records kept.
