Science

Science is an integral part of the curriculum and is taught at all levels of the school. It is introduced in Pre-Prep through topic work and weekly designated curriculum time. A “hands on” approach is encouraged and during this time the pupils are given the opportunity to observe, explore and ask questions about living things, materials and phenomena. Emphasis is also put on the communication of their ideas and findings.

Science is given additional time and specialist teaching as the pupils move up the school. At this level the pupils are encouraged to make links between ideas and explain results using simple models and theories. The course is designed (apart from examination preparation) to give the pupils an interest in the subject and a strong foundation on which to build at their secondary schools.

The pupils thrive on the practical approach and become very adept at carrying out their own investigations. The large, spacious and well equipped science room incorporates a greenhouse providing a stimulating learning environment for the pupils.

Science is an integral part of modern life and we teach it in a way that stretches the imagination and creativity of our pupils.
