FOTM Events

The largest number of teams yet competed for the new FOTM Ask the Family Shield at our Annual Quiz Night on Saturday 26th March.  Quizmaster, Annabel Gaskell, had compiled a quiz with questions for all the family, so it was definitely a help to have some children on your team.  Rounds included pictures of celebrities in glasses, one on the royal family given the upcoming wedding, and a music round on boy bands. Denise from Catering supplied a fantastic supper for everyone with freshly cooked fish, sausages and chips, then in the second half of the quiz, the novelty round provided some pudding – teams were given a bag of fruit to identify the varieties.

At the end the scores were very close indeed.  In fact we had joint winners – the Rawlingsons (Y6) and the Wilkinson/McCulloch team (Y5), beating the Galaxy Team (Heyworth/Holmes/Boyle families of  Y6) by just one point!  Congratulations to the winners, and commiserations to all the other teams, especially Galaxy.

This year, the quiz was held in aid of the Helen & Douglas House ‘Simply Suppers’ fundraising campaign. Donations, raffle and bar profits are currently being added up, but we hope to have raised several hundred pounds for this worthy local charity.
