Assessment

Listening and Appraising, Performing and Composition provide a variety of invaluable opportunities for assessment of pupils’ attainment and progress.

Assessment in music at The Manor takes account of all pupils’ attainment and progress, both within and beyond the classroom, and is used to inform both the planning and organisation of future teaching in the classroom and in extra-curricular music activities.

All musical activities at The Manor, both in and out of the classroom are designed and organised to enable all pupils to make and sustain excellent progress according to their ability.

Music

From large inclusive choirs to scholarship level individual musicians, all children are encouraged to love and respond to music. 85% of the children between the ages of 7 to 11 receive individual music lessons at school by highly experienced music teachers.

Music provides a pleasure, challenge and enrichment which should last well beyond the school career of a Manor pupil. Music at The Manor is not only for talented individuals who may ultimately choose a career in this field; all pupils are encouraged to develop an interest in making music.
