Abingdon Rotary Club Photography Competition

21st March 2016

Photography competition

In Autumn last year 14 Manor pupils chose to enter the Abingdon Rotary Club Photography competition with some wonderful results.

The theme was ‘The Natural World Around Us’ and their take on the topic was both thoughtful and of a very high standard. They were entered into a competitive 7-11 age group along with photographs from other schools. The judge, Paul Viney Photography, wrote ‘there was an exceptional group of pictures in this group and it was very hard to pick a top three’. So imagine our delight when we found out that Manor girls had swept the board!

Below are the winners with the comments of the judges.
1st Prize of £50: Heather W in 5C with View toward Brhyer – ‘A lovely composition with the old chain in the foreground leading you into the picture. The image is very well balanced and exposed. A very well composed seascape and sharp from front and back.’
2nd Prize of £30: Hannah H in 5C with Self-Portrait – ‘I love the water droplets in the web. The web is sharp and stands out from the face behind and the background hints at a misty morning.’
3rd Prize of £15: Scarlett A in 4D with Our Picnic Friend  – ‘I love the cheeky expression and the tilt of his head peeking out of the foliage.’

Their work will be on show in the Open Space shop window in Abingdon shopping precinct until the end of March and on the Rotary Club’s website – www.abingdon-rotary.org.uk

Anna C and Kiana R were also highly commended for Cabbage White and Red Berries respectively.

Well done to all these girls!
