Half Termly Sports News – June to July 2019

10th July 2019

The build up to our spectacular Sports Days is very much the focus for the second half of the Summer Term as well as an exciting second year of Cricket for all of our children, and a sport that we are fast making our mark at.
IAPS Cricket 2019
Following the introduction of Cricket into our curriculum last year, this is only our second year at competing at this big event. We are so proud of our IAPS team for coming 3rd this year, against some very tough competition. Well done to all of the children that represented the school so brilliantly!
The second half of the Summer Term was so much kinder to us weather-wise and we managed to play most of our arranged fixtures, including a fabulous day with all of our Year 2 children at St Hugh’s.
IAPS Swimming 2019
At our final swimming competition for this academic year, Luci F-Y qualified for IAPS Nationals that took place at Guildford Spectrum on 8 June. This was a fantastic achievement for Luci and a wonderful experience.
Local Schools Athletics Afternoon
We had a lovely afternoon hosting a Year 3 Athletics Afternoon, welcoming our friends from Drayton, Wootton and Dry Sandford Schools to a fun afternoon with all of our Year 3 children. It was so lovely to see all of the children united in their mixed teams and enjoying taking part in the running, jumping and throwing events!
Sports Days
All of our Sports Days have been a great success with every child enthused and excited to perform in front of their parents; the support that they showed to each other was truly heartfelt!
Congratulations to all of the children who hugely enjoyed our Pre-Nursery, Nursery, Reception and Year 1 & 2 Sports Days. Congratulations also to our Year 3 to 6 pupils who took part in their Sports Days in glorious sunshine and with a staggering 13 school records broken! The winners were:

Year 6 – Eagles
Year 5 – Falcons
Year 4 – Falcons
Year 3 – Kestrels
Overall Athletics Shield – Falcons
Prize Giving
Following our Year 3 to 6 Sports Day, Thursday 4 July was a full-on day with our Prize Giving Assembly in the afternoon. Well done to all children that have represented the school throughout 2018/19 and to those that received recognition Cups and Colours for exceptional effort and performance.

Having undertaken 288 fixtures in Biathlon, Cricket, Cross Country, Football, Hockey, Netball, Swimming, Tag Rugby, Tennis, as well as all of our many House competitions, we have completed another hugely successful year of sport at The Manor. Time now to relax over the summer before we return for Pre-Season Sport on 5 and 6 September to prepare our children for the many new opportunities and challenges they have to look forward to in 2019/20.
