The Manor Association of Parents (MAP) provides a useful parents’ network which forms an integral part of the school.
The primary aim of the association is to encourage community spirit within the school by organising a range of social events for both parents and children throughout the school year.
The secondary aim is to raise funds so we can invest in luxury items for the children that couldn’t ordinarily be justified, as well as supporting charitable causes.
Newly formed from September 2018, MAP brings together key members of school staff as well as class representatives. The idea behind this is that the school staff (Marketing Manager, Director of Admissions and Communications, Marketing Assistant and the Head’s PA) can offer their expertise whilst being supported by parents as and when they are able.
MAP will meets once or twice a term to discuss fundraising ideas, events and spending plans. All parents will then be circulated with information about forthcoming functions.

Further to feedback from class representatives, we will be trialling a new time to hold our coffee mornings. During the Autumn term, we will be serving coffee and tea every other Wednesday afternoon in the Dining Room between 3.00pm and 4.00pm. This is great way of meeting fellow parents. The dates are included below:
All parents have an open invitation to join the regular MAP meetings that take place in the Dining Room. Please join us for our next meetings on Friday 8 March and Friday 17 May at 8.35am. Refreshments will be served. No need to RSVP, please join us on the morning.
Regular communication between parents is important in helping us build a supportive and welcoming school community. Recent data protection changes mean parents now rely on a variety of informal channels to contact each other, ranging from ad-hoc email lists to social media groups on Facebook and WhatsApp. These can work well but raise important concerns over distribution of personal data.
The school has looked carefully at what might serve parent needs best in this area. Over the summer we have introduced a new “built for purpose” app called Classlist. This enables parents to find and contact each other securely, whilst giving each parent complete control over what data is shared.
Aside from being an online address book, using Classlist you can set up events; form special interest groups; discuss arrangements for parties or liftshares; find a home for old bicycles or school blazers, and volunteer.
It takes a couple of minutes to get started - visit the Classlist website, select The Manor Preparatory School and choose what data to share with your fellow parents. Here's a little video to help you make the most of Classlist.
The Second Hand Uniform Shop
The School’s Second Hand Uniform Shop also falls under the MAP umbrella and is open at various times throughout the term and is located on the top floor of the Manor House. Please visit the SHUS page for more information and sale dates.
Pinboard has arrived at The Manor! Pinboard is a free, weekly email rather like a traditional Pinboard in a school hall. It is a secure, community-focused, opt-in resource for parents to share information about all things offered, wanted and recommended. We hope parents will find it useful, time-saving & fun. The more of us that join, the more useful it will become!
