The Manor Bake-off 2018

8th June 2018

The culmination of The Manor Bake-off 2018 was on show for all to see in the Dining Room.

There had been two previous rounds where sweet and savoury scones were baked and tartlets were created with flair – not a single ‘soggy bottom’ in sight! 16 children made it through to the final where their ‘showstopper’ cakes needed to reflect their favourite book. Each and every cake was a work of art; there had clearly been a great deal of thought put into the visual appearance as well as the taste. Mr Thomas, Mrs Copson, Mrs Francis and I had an extremely tough job choosing the 2 winners – one from Year 5 and 6 and one from Year 3 and 4.

The ‘Star Baker’ awards went to Poppy P in Year 6 for her depiction of the Very Hungry Caterpillar made with a delicious lemon and elderflower flavoured sponge and Nina B in Year 4, for her depiction of The Storey Treehouse; the trunk of the tree was imaginatively created from a rocky road mixture.
Huge congratulations to everyone who entered this year – keep on cooking and baking and creating new dishes to wow your families!
