Wonderful Windsor Castle

24th September 2015

School Trip to Windsor Castle

Year 2 had a wonderful day at Windsor Castle on Wednesday 23rd September.

The sun shone as we explored the castle grounds, looking for features such as turrets, battlements and arrow slits.  The children toured the beautiful state rooms, complete with gold-adorned pieces of furniture, portraits, tapestries, ceiling paintings, chandeliers, armour, swords, shields and flags.

The children enjoyed a super workshop learning more about the history of Windsor Castle.  They explored how enemies were kept out of the castle walls, what a King would wear, how a Page should treat a lady, what a knight would wear to protect himself as well as watching how the Queen would knight someone.  We also managed to squeeze in a little tour of Queen Mary’s Dolls House too!

What a super day enhancing our Creative Curriculum this term.   Thank you very much to everyone who helped on the day.
