Wonderful Windsor Castle

29th September 2016

Year 2 enjoyed a fabulously royal trip to Windsor Castle on Wednesday.

We began with a sunny walk up to the castle, through the airport-like security and into the castle gates. We looked up at the high walls and beautiful shapes created by the windows and battlements. We spotted arrow slits and imagined the battles that had taken place there. We then were able to look around the state apartments and even saw a beautiful collection of the Queen’s gowns on display as part of her 90th birthday celebrations.

After lunch we took part in a knight’s dubbing ceremony and learned all about how to become a knight! Before heading home, we toured St George’s chapel and saw many memorial stones and the tombs of Kings and Queens we recognised; Henry VIII, George VI and The Queen mother, to name a few. What a wonderful time was had by all.
