Y6 Maths Challenge

2nd November 2017

Year 6 maths challenge
On Tuesday 31st October, four Year 6 pupils spent the afternoon taking part in the Maths Challenge held at St. Edwards School, Oxford. It was a brilliant afternoon with lots of challenging Maths.

The challenge tested their problem solving, and their running, as they frequently sprinted up and down the hall to get their work marked! The challenge consisted of three different rounds: ‘Finding Values’, where pupils had to find the value of letters using hints provided. The second round was ‘Countdown’, where they had to use the four operations and set numbers to make the desired total. To finish was ‘The Big Event’, which involved them working through a variety of problems.

76 pairs represented nearly 40 schools so the competition was tough. These were split into two halves: 1 and 2.

The results were
1. Scarlett A and Poppy I finished 15th in their section.
2. Alina F and Honey H finished 29th in their section.

Well done girls for being amazing representatives of the school!
