Day 1
All is well at PGL! The children have had a great sleep and are raring to go! Today’s plan includes tree-climbing, team challenge and raft building, a trip to a castle and, of course, some retail  therapy in a beautiful French town. Looking forward to our crêpes ce soir!

Day 2
We all had a brilliant first day in France yesterday. We started with activities on site. Some of us were raft building and others climbing trees and facing team challenges. After a delicious picnic in the sunshine, we headed off to the beautiful town of Fougères where we followed the town trail and then visited the largest medieval castle in Europe.

For supper we had a choice of  sweet potato curry or chicken and sautéed potatoes with barbecue sauce maison. Our visit to La Crêperie was very successful and followed by an excellent night’s sleep.

We are heading North to the D-Day landing beaches tomorrow to bring to life Mrs McGill’s history lessons about WWII.

Everyone is well and happy, practising their French and looking after each other. Please do check Twitter for regular updates.

A plus tard!

Day 3 and 4
Bonjour! We had a wonderful day in Arromanches and Juno Beach. The children were moved by the film about D-Day and found the bunker visit fascinating. Their whole experience was enhanced by personal stories some of the children told us about their great-grandfathers’ involvement in WWII. After a good night’s sleep and another delicious breakfast, we are now ready for our French shopping spree at the market and pâtisserie! We will have our picnic lunch in a beautiful outdoor amphitheatre in Jublain before heading back to the Château du Tertre for our raft-building, tree climbing and team challenges. Tonight, the children are looking forward to dressing up for the disco – Mr Jackson and Mr Chitty have been practising cool dance moves!

Please keep on checking Twitter for updates.
A bientôt!

Day 5
We are all packed up and en route for the Bayeux Tapestry on our last day of what has been a wonderful trip. The children have engaged brilliantly with all of the opportunities and activities and have been excellent ambassadors for The Manor. We are looking forward to a steady crossing and to seeing our families this evening.

A plus tard!
