Nursery’s visit to Forest School

5th November 2015

Nursery Forest School

During our onsite Forest School sessions Nursery have been looking for worms!  We  found them under logs and whilst digging in the mud kitchen.  Together we made a wormery in a large jar by layering mud and sand, adding dead leaves and vegetable peelings and last of all everyone was encouraged to add a worm!  The jars were then left in a dark cool place for half term. The nursery children noticed that over half term the worms had been very busy, mixing the sand and mud together, and the leaves and peelings had started to decay.  Once we had made our observations the worms were released back into the Forest School environment.
