At The Manor, ‘Pre-Prep’ encompasses Reception, Years 1 and 2.
In Reception, children complete the Early Years Foundation stage with focus on the seven areas of learning and development. We have three thriving Reception classes, with approximately 15 children in each, looked after by a dedicated Teacher and a Teaching Assistant. The classrooms are all inter-linked with a fantasic shared outdoor space, giving the children lots of opportunities to explore and get to know one another, as they play and learn. Phonics is a core focus and our dynamic ELS phoncs scheme has the children excited and engaged from day 1.
Years 1 and 2 cover Key Stage 1 of the National Curriculum and represent a really exciting period for children at The Manor. The introduction of the Creative Curricululm enables the teachers to really tune-in to the children’s interests, enabling them to make connections between lessons and subject areas. Not only this, but our specialist teaching steps-up a gear, with the children enjoying broader experiences, beyond their home classroom, in French, Art/D&T and Drama, in addition to their already well established Music, PE and Library lessons.
