At The Manor, we are proud to support a range of charities and community initiatives throughout the year. We believe these experiences help children develop compassion, responsibility and a strong sense of social awareness.
Each year, we support the Poppy Appeal, helping children understand remembrance and the importance of giving back. At Harvest, we collect donations for the Abingdon Foodbank, as well as supporting ACE, a local Abingdon charity that supports vulnerable families. During the festive period, we raise money for the Oxford Children’s Hospital, The Children’s Society and Save the Children at our Carol and Christingle services, and on Christmas Jumper Day.
The Summer Fete, organised by our Year 6 children, raises money for a charity chosen by the pupils themselves; encouraging leadership, teamwork and charitable decision-making.
Children in Years 5 and 6 also take part in a variety of fundraising and community initiatives as part of working towards their Manor Colours. Charities supported so far include the Berin Centre and Cancer Research UK, with activities ranging from cake sales to second-hand clothing collections.
In addition to fundraising, we actively support our local community. For example, pupils visit our neighbouring care home, Stowford House, building meaningful relationships with residents. This is further supported through our Pen Pals Club, which helps foster communication skills and intergenerational connections.
Everybody in the school community is encouraged to become involved in fundraising. If you have fundraising ideas please do get in touch!
