Bursaries

In 1997 the school launched a new bursary scheme to benefit families who would not otherwise be able to come to The Manor. These bursaries are not dependent on ability but the child will have an assessment which will allow The Manor to ensure that both the children and the School are able to gain full benefit from the bursary.

Bursary places

Bursary places for September 2008 entry may be awarded to a small number of boys or girls from the age of 4, according to financial need, and could cover either part or full fees. There are no residence qualifications although priority may be given to children from the local community.

Financial Requirements

The financial circumstances of both parents, and of any current partner of one or both parents, may be taken into account along with social security benefits and other financial details. These may include both capital and current income. Any awards made will be for the duration of each child’s natural time at the School but will be subject to annual means testing.

As a very rough guide, combined family incomes of more than £40,000 are unlikely to qualify for bursary assistance. However, any awards made are at the discretion of the Governors and this figure may be varied from time to time.

Proof of income will be required and applications will be subject to scrutiny by independent auditors.

Application

Application forms, based on the questionnaire recommended by the Independent Schools’ Bursars’ Association, are available from The Bursary at the School.

It is recommended that potential applicants contact the School in the first instance so that an assessment can be arranged. Offers will be made on the basis of this assessment subject to a successful bursary application.
