Due to the children’s age in Pre-Prep, they are continuing to develop fundamental movement skills and learning to perform as an individual. In the Autumn and Spring Terms, they are introduced to gymnastics, dance and racket games such as Bisi-Badminton and Short Tennis. During the Summer Term, the children explore athletics with a focus on Sports Day at the end of the term.
The children develop a variety of skills through more sport specific activities, such as football, tag rugby and cricket. The children begin to play in small sided games with a particular focus on teamwork and developing an understanding of key rules in each game.
Introduction to competition
Inter-school and friendly matches with other schools are fully inclusive at The Manor. Year 1 and 2 children compete for the football and tag rugby house shields in the Autumn and Spring Terms and enjoy Sports Day at the end of the Summer Term. The Year 2 children will also participate as a whole year group in festivals with other Prep Schools.
In line with Government advice and in conjunction with schools up and down the country, we are very sorry that until further notice, The Manor Preparatory School is closed, although we are operating a skeleton staff at this time for children of our Key Worker families.
