10th June 2015
On Saturday 6 June, The Manor hosted the 7th Combined Training Competition (Dressage and Show Jumping). This was the first year that it was held at Lyford Stud, by kind permission of Richard and Carol Starkey and what a fantastic venue it was. There were 7 children from The Manor, sometimes riding more than one pony and in more than one class, competing against children from several other schools. The sun shone but even though there was a brisk wind blowing in from the White Horse, a glorious day was had by all. All of The Manor children rode superbly. I was on the show jumping all day and I loved seeing all the children’s beaming smiles as they got their ponies over the course of jumps. There was a rosette for the Highest Placed Manor child in each class and these were won by:
Class 1 Emily S
Class 2 Lily S
Class 3 Annie M
Class 4 Mia E
Rosettes were awarded to 6th place in each class and there were also team prizes for each class for the team that gained the most points. The winning team were all presented with a new Manor green lead rope. There is an Equestrian cup that is awarded to the school that overall gains the most points at the end of the day. This year The Manor was victorious. Huge thanks go to Richard and Carol who worked tirelessly so that one and all had a great day whether it was their first competition or they were experienced. Also a huge thank you to all the helpers, without whom this event could not have taken place.
