12th May 2016
On Wednesday 11 May 2016 the children didn’t let a little rain (albeit heavy downpours!) stop their chance to raise money for local charity, Keen. The children braved the pouring rain and took to the school field for their Sponsored Walk.
Inspired by local personal trainer, Tom Alden, who recently ran 156 miles in the Marathon des Sables across the Sahara Desert, the children were challenged to try and beat his distance with their combined laps of the school field.
Along their treacherous journey they found sand dunes with bug pits, a desert cave with snakes and bats, cactus hoop-la, a palm tree oasis and even a camel. All designed by a very artistic parent!
Tom Alden and Paul Harding from Keen joined in all the fun on the day and ran with the children around the field.
The total raised via Just Giving, Gift Aid and donations on the day currently stands at a staggering £5671.69 and is still climbing! A very many thanks to all who have donated and to those who braved the rain to cheer the children on.
