Year 6 have just come back from their French Trip to Normandy and what a delightful year group they have been to take away for five days!
After our very early start (4:30am!), the girls enjoyed a calm ferry crossing and got ready to have their French adventure! After a good night’s sleep at the Château du Tertre, we spent the day in Arromanches and learnt all about the D-Day landings, the Mulberry Harbour and the Battle of Normandy.
The next morning, we visited a French market (in the rain!), paid a visit to the Pâtisserie (the yummy cakes helped us cope with the bad weather!) and came back to the PGL centre to prepare the food we had bought.
The next day was our activity day: we canoed, did Trapeze and Archery, all with great gusto and determination. In the evening, we dressed up and went out to a Crêperie in Mayenne to enjoy a delicious crêpe (‘chocolat’ was the favourite flavour of the evening).
On Thursday, we had another morning of activities, then went out to visit a snail farm (where else but in France would you do that?!) The last evening was filled which much excitement as a great disco took place with the other schools there.
On the Friday morning, we managed to squeeze in another visit: the Bayeux Tapestry. Then we started our journey back to England. What a fantastic trip this has been!
