Visit from the Fire Service

13th December 2017

Year 2 enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with the Oxfordshire Fire Brigade recently.
They taught us how to stay safe in our homes and we learnt about the special equipment that Firefighters use. The Firefighters dressed Mrs Gower up in their uniform including breathing apparatus – it was very big and heavy!

We then had the opportunity to explore the fire truck and we saw the many different sizes of hoses and ladders! The Firefighters showed us the equipment and tools they use to rescue people that are trapped. We saw how the ‘jaws of life’ worked and were amazed to discover that they were powerful enough to lift even the fire truck itself! It was a brilliant afternoon!
