Following an undefeated season so far, we knew that these teams would be our biggest challenge to date. The team, of course, showcased great skill but also came up against challenges they hadn’t had to face previously. They won all but one of their pool matches, with some tight games and a loss by one goal to a very slick St Swithun’s team. However, we finished second in our pool to qualify for the semi final where we were to play Hall Grove, who had won all their matches in their pool section. The Manor were well and truly geared up in this game to take a convincing win of 7-2. At the same time, the mighty St Swithun’s played their semi final against Yateley Manor and beating them. This could only mean that we were to face our biggest competition of the day again, St Swithun’s. Earlier on, st Swithun’s forced us to panic and make mistakes. This time around, we knew what we were up against.
We had a much better start and it was goal for goal, and on the final whistle, it was… a draw! It was announced to both teams that they would play 2 minutes more each way, and if still a draw, then a golden goal would determine the winner. Tensions were seriously high from both teams, supporters on the sideline were high with all kinds of emotion, but The Manor secured an early goal and managed to disrupt the very talented St Swithun’s shooters on this occasion to take the win by just 1 goal. We could not have wished for a more thrilling final!
