After this event had been rearranged not once but twice due to the snow, this was third time lucky for what turned out to be a fantastic day of netball at the Regional Round.
The Manor convincingly won all six of their games in the pool round accumulating a total of 31 Goals and only allowing 6 Goals against them. They therefore finished top of their pool taking them straight through to the quarter finals. Here, they came up against a very strong High March team and having gone goal for goal for most of the match, The Manor managed to capitalise on their opportunities to break away and win by 2 goals. Ultimately the aim of the day was to qualify for Nationals and we had done just that by winning this game! All that was left to do was to play for a placing.
Our semi final match was against a strong Orchard House team who challenged but The Manor were relentless in their approach to win by 3 goals. They then met Bute House in the final. This team had done exactly what The Manor had done all day which was to win all their games so far. Therefore, this was sure to be a clash of the titans finale! It was an incredibly tense game with both teams making basic error mistakes throughout due to pressure and tired legs. It was goal for goal from start to finish until the very last whistle when the ball fell through the hoop in favour of Bute House to win by 1 goal. Congratulations to Bute House. The Manor finished a very respectable Runner Up and with the belief and motivation to showcase their talent at the next level.
We went to qualify and we did just that! 28 teams took part at Queen Anne’s Caversham, all competing for just 6 places from this Region. With 10 Regions in total, 40 teams have now qualified for the Nationals which take place on Friday 9 March (just a day away!) and The Manor are delighted to be one of those teams competing.
