Visit from Poet James Carter

29th January 2020

James Carter

We were recently entertained by a very energetic visit from children’s poet, non-fiction writer and musician, James Carter. In assembly he performed poems and action rhymes on everything from bugs to journeys to and from love to aliens, and had us all in fits of laughter with his words and music.

James then led poetry workshops for the children in Years 3 to 6 inspiring them to go back to their classrooms and write their own pieces of poetry. At the end of the day we all gathered together in the Main Hall where some of the children shared the poems they had written. “That was brilliant!” said a Year 6 pupil. We couldn’t agree more!
