On Wednesday 9th June 2010, former pupil Fiona Rushbrook inspired both the staff and the boys and girls with an outstanding presentation on her work with the Kenya Education Partnership which invests in opportunities for young people.
Fiona confidently and eloquently explained that KEP works with schools in Kenya to find out what they need to improve their schools. As well as providing books, science and sports equipment and Programmes of Development, KEP aims to build sustainability.
The boys and girls at The Manor are taking part in Fiona’s project by creating contacts with the pupils in Kenya and buying book inserts which they will decorate for the Kenyan school children.
Fiona, who completed her schooling at The School of St. Helen and St. Katharine and is currently reading Geography at Cambridge, leaves for Kenya in three weeks. We shall be able to follow her adventures via her blog and we look forward to welcoming her back to The Manor on her return when she will tell us more about her fabulous initiative.
Each year, the school magazine “Manorisms” is distributed to Manor alumni.
We would like to encourage Manor Alumni to ensure that their contact details are kept up-to-date so that we can contact you with news and events from The Manor. Please email your updated contact details to Mrs Karen Copson at registrar@manorprep.org or phone 01235 858462.
