On Tuesday 27th February, 4 girls from Year 5 spent the afternoon taking part in the Maths Challenge held at Cranford House School. It was a brilliant afternoon with lots of challenging Maths tasks.
Working in pairs, the Year 5 mathematicians worked through six problems lasting eight minutes each. The activities during the event involved work with tangram triangles, a domino jigsaw, railway timetables, playing cards and broken calculators. To finish, the pairs had the opportunity to gain extra points by answering a variety of word problems in a multiple choice quiz. “It was tough but really fun to be part of. It was so exciting to represent The Manor in a Maths competition” said The Manor girls.
44 pairs represented 22 schools so competition was high. The results were Olivia B and Saffy B finished 10th in their section. Kate G and Emily C finished 11th in their section.
Well done girls for being amazing representatives of the school. Fantastic effort!
